Pithy Banter

I'm not sure if AJM's and my debates are pithy, but they're all banter. I've been active there today.

Also, check AJM's post on the UN's Sudan report.

Also, check out Senator Harry Reid's statement from the Senate floor, posted at the new site, Judging the Future.

More later.

Re: Harry Reid

Democrats hold a gun to the head of the American electorate, using the filibuster in an unprecedented manner to deny votes to judicial nominees sent to the Senate by the peoples' President, then threaten to shut down all Senate business if the Republicans change the rules to protect the Constitution, but Republicans have precipitated this conflict?

Gimme a break, Harry.

I figured the Reid post would get AJM's attention. I'm witholding comment on it.

However, if I were making the Senate rules, I would limit inquiry by the Senate to the opinions/orders records of the judges. While U.S. Supreme Court and Appeals Court judgeships have become politicized over the last 30 years, and subjectivity naturally informs precedent-making by the high courts, I would still limit the scope of inquiry.
