Live Strong

Hard work, discipline, the will to survive. The will to win.

I don't care how cliche it is. It's true. Lance Armstrong is a hero. And I'm happy to count him as one of mine.

It was thrilling to watch the Tour again this year. Congratulations to Lance on victory number 7.

Lance Armstrong embodies the best of professional athletics, there is no doubt. But his example as a human being--whether chasing yellow or not--is what counts.

Live Strong.

And while you're at it, give some money to Lance's foundation,

I was rather aggravated yesterday when a local sports radio personality was bashing the fact that Lance's SEVENTH Tour De France victory was splashed on the front pages of many newspapers in our area as well as throughout the papers in the United States. He suggested that although Lance deserved coverage on the cover of the sports page, the coverage on the front page was unwarrented. He was careful not to bash Lance's cause but he was miffed by the attention Lance was getting. He claimed that the average American sports enthusiast didn't care about Lance or the Tour. He is right and his is dead wrong.
Johnny Six-pack who is a die hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and WWF probably couldn't care less, BUT he is aware. Lance's feat, cancer or no cancer is unprecidented. People around the world know the name Lance Armstrong, not unlike Mohamad Ali or Michael Jordan. Lance's successful Tours is a testament to perseverance and his accomplishments represent hope. Hope for cancer survivors, hope for those trying to lose a few pounds, hope for the United States, and hope for those who are attempting tasks that may seem daunting. "Hell, if Lance can win seven consecutive Tour De France events, I can get out of bed, walk on the treadmill and eat shreaded wheat instead of staying in bed watching t.v. while wiping the doughnut crumbs of my face." Feel free to insert your own personal goal whether it be changing habits to fighting cancer.
Blah, blah, blah...screw you Mr. Sports guy, Lance is worthy of the frickin' front page of every newspaper.
Having released all that negative too Live Strong.

Nice points, Lizzie. Lance is a rare inspiration.

Yeah, "screw you, Mr. Sports guy." I'm right there with you.
